HP launches folio PC with Windows CE

NEWS Hewlett-Packard (HP) will launch its Jornada 820 this week - the first folio computer to run on Microsoft's Windows CE handheld PC operating system. HP's folio is a larger version of the palmtop PC with a UK-developed StrongArm Risc processor and a built in 56K modem. According to Windows CE's product manager, Dilip Mistry, folio computers cost less to buy and run, are more reliable, and take less time to 'boot up' than most laptops. The product will target the lower end of the notebook market. Sharp are quickly following suit with the launch of their Mobilon Pro, already available in the US and due to hit the UK in the next few months.
