NEWS Marconi Communications has been awarded a four-year contract worth over £13m to maintain London Underground's (LU) service control centres. The systems integrator will manage LU's train operation centres in Neasden and New Cross. It will also provide technical support on the Jubilee and East London Lines. Graham Outerside, sales director for strategic networks at Marconi, said: "We already maintained the network - so it was a natural progression for us to take up the contract for the Jubilee Line extension." The LU system will be supported by a radio and transmission systems, supplied by Marconi. "With new trains running on the extension, it's important that there is continuity," added Outerside.
