NEWS Rail regulator, Tom Winsor, today told Railtrack to set up a database of information on the state of its assets, or face further action. Commenting on a report by Booz Allen & Hamilton on Railtrack's management of the network, he said that he would alter the terms of Railtrack's network licence to force it to provide the data. Responding to the highly critical report of Railtrack's network management, Winsor said that "at the heart of the report are criticisms of the company's knowledge of its assets and its management of them". He said he intends to alter the licence to include "a reliable and comprehensive asset database which covers all of Railtrack's network."
