NEWS Microsoft has announced its own XML-based specification, which is fast gathering support across the industry. Compaq, the Open Applications Group and SAP have already announced their support for Microsoft BizTalk, which was released online this week. BizTalk 1.0 provides a common specification for businesses to exchange XML-based documents online with their trading partners. Whilst XML is an open standard, Microsoft's BizTalk schema only exchanges documents between BizTalk-compatible applications. The full specification is available online at http://www.biztalk.org .
