NEWS Intel this week announced an internal overhaul designed to help the chip giant focus more on cellular and wireless communications technology. Central to the strategy is the expansion of the company's Network Communications Group to include embedded controllers and microprocessors for the communications industry. The Computing Enhancement Group will be renamed the Wireless Communications and Computing Group, focusing exclusively on wireless and cellular activity. DSP Communications, recently acquired by Intel, will form part of this group. And Andy Bryant, senior VP and CFO, will take on a larger role overseeing the company's ebusiness and human resource activities. Craig Barrett, president and CEO, said in a statement: "These newly created organisations and consolidations are intended to allow Intel to move as rapidly as possible after new opportunities offered by the Internet and ebusiness, and take an increased role in the fast-growing markets and wireless communications."
