Motorola opts for Verisign WAP security

NEWS Motorola is the first mobile phone operator to sign up to Verisign's wireless ecommerce services. The announcement came at Californian security event, RSA Conference 2000 where they said they will jointly develop and market Verisign security software for Motorola's WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) Internet devices. The software will cover all aspects of ebusiness security - from authentication and encryption to non-repudiation. In other news, Siemens is to roll-out WAP software developed by Phone.com to ten mobile operators worldwide. The commercial release will initially affect Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong, Norway and Spain.
