Intel and Symbol announce wireless LAN venture

NEWS Intel and Symbol Technologies have announced a joint development agreement, which will also see the chipmaker take a $100m stake in the wireless networking and device company. The two companies will devote a combined total of more than 200 silicon, hardware and software engineers to work on wireless LAN technologies. Adapter cards, chips and network access points will be developed, based on the IEEE 802.11 wireless networking standard, at the 2.4GHz and 5.2GHz wireless LAN spectrum bands. For related news see:
