NEWS Phone.com, known for its WAP browser technology, is buying California-based Onebox.com for around $850m in stock.
Onebox.com is a provider of unified messaging services on an application service provider (ASP) basis. It claims to have registered 2.5 million subscribers from around the world in just six months.
The companies' combined products will be offered as a service to Phone.com's existing customers, which include over 50 wireless network operators.
