NEWS Technology provider, Amadeus, today unveiled a WAP-based travel booking system with Scandinavian regional airline, Widerøe. Wireless Travel Management (WTM) will let Widerøe's customers check flight availability, as well as book, cancel and change flights with over 500 airlines worldwide through a mobile device. WTM, with the aid of the Amadeus travel reservation engine, will allow passengers to choose from multiple carriers. Reservations can be made from 12 months to two hours before time of flight, and the booking process will take under three minutes. Amadeus plans to extend the service to further airlines this summer, as well as offering options for corporate travel, fare negotiation, and car and hotel bookings. WTM was developed by Amadeus in association with mobile phone maker Ericsson and Smart, Amadeus' Scandinavian distribution partner.
