BT hatches mobile Egg plan

NEWS Online bank Egg today announced it is teaming up with mobile operator BT Cellnet to develop Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) services for customers. Egg will begin delivering mobile banking services via BT's Genie mobile Internet service on 25 April. The bank hopes to roll out the full service to customers by June. Mike Harris, chief executive of Egg, said in a statement: "Egg aims to be available for its customers through whichever medium they choose." He promised users "a new level of convenience in accessing accounts, Egg shop and other services when they're not logged on to a PC".
