Intel experiences further setbacks with Timna

By Pia Heikkila, 6 June 2000 11:55

NEWS Intel has admitted its troubled Memory Translation Hub (MTH) component is delaying the launch of its Timna processor, which was originally to be launched during the second quarter of this year. The admission comes a month after Intel recalled one million faulty chips at a cost estimated to be as much as $300m. A spokeswoman for Intel told silicon.com the problems with the MTH component are a knock-on-effect of earlier problems experienced with its Pentium III 820 chipset. The spokeswoman claimed the latest setback would have no material effect on the company.
