NEWS The release of the first Linux-based PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) by GMATE is facing a six-month delay.
The PDA, called Yopy, had been expected for release in March this year. However, a letter from GMATE to a frustrated potential customer has revealed the beta version will not be available in Korea until 23 July, with an international roll out expected three months later.
GMATE is composed of developers from LG, Hyundai Electronics and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. They said Yopy is based on ARM-Linux as its operating system because of the stability of the platform. It will also offer a four-inch colour screen, MP3 player, a digital camera and a 32-bit processor.
Retail price is expected to be around $400.
