Verizon WAPs US two weeks after launch

NEWS Newly formed mobile operator Verizon Wireless has unveiled its US WAP strategy - just two weeks after hitting the market. The company - created by a merger between the wireless divisions of GTE, Bell Atlantic and Vodafone Airtouch - has launched an internet service for mobile phones. The new service, called Mobile Web, will combine features already introduced separately by the three parent companies. Customers can access 32 branded sites including ABC News, Amazon.com, Etrade and MSN. Verizon was created at the end of June this year, and already has 25 million subscribers in the US.
