HP takes banking in hand

NEWS Hewlett Packard is to distribute a secure WAP banking software that enables banks to send financial information to customers' mobile phones. HP has signed a deal with Swedish company Digital Mobility to use its InHand software. Krister Jorlen, CEO at Digital Mobility, claimed the software could help to speed up the adoption of WAP by dispelling worries about security. The software supports encrypted sessions between the mobile phones and the banks own inhouse systems. HP will jointly develop the software through its Nordic financial services sales channels as a managed service running on HP software. The company said in a statement that the service will initially be hosted on Digital Mobility's Swedish based WAPhub. However, it will also be implemented throughout the company's other European points of presence over the next 12 months.
