WAP creator moves away from its own technology

Phone.com, one of the inventors of WAP, has said it expects to move away from the technology.

NEWS According to reports, Don Listwin, recently appointed CEO of Phone.com, told the Wireless Internet conference in New York: "We will not hang our hat fundamentally and only on WAP." The company, which is in the process of merging with Sofware.com, expects to see an evolving protocol including both WAP and iMode - the popular mobile Internet architecture used by Japan's NTT DoCoMo.
