Bidders fall out over Infostrada price tag

The sale of Vodafone subsidiary Infostrada has been delayed as the two companies involved in bidding for the company have fallen out over the price their joint venture must pay.

NEWS Wind, a joint venture between France Telecom and Italian utility Enel, is currently in discussions with Infostrada. Enel, the majority shareholder in Wind with a 56.5 per cent stake, has proposed a payment of E11bn (£6.6bn) for Infostrada but France Telecom claims this is E2bn (£1.2bn) too much. A source close to the deal claimed France Telecom called the price proposed by Enel 'excessive'. France Telecom refused to comment but claimed it is happy with the work Enel has put into organising the deal. Sources quoted in Reuters, claim the deal could be closed within the next few days if a price is agreed.
