Telefonica enlists equipment providers for Spanish UMTS

Telefonica Moviles has picked two more equipment providers to help roll out its UMTS infrastructure in Spain.

NEWS Nokia and Ericsson will join Motorola in building a network, which will serve Spanish towns with over 250,000 inhabitants. Telefonica is set to invest E121m (£73m) in the roll out of this first phase, expected to be completed by next August. Telefonica Moviles won its UMTS licence last May, and will invest a total of E5.28bn (£3.2bn) in the construction of its UMTS network.
