Motorola to license chips from rival ARM

NEWS Motorola said it expected to introduce solutions based on ARM chips within the next 12 months. It did not rule out using the chips in its own Motorola mobile handsets. UK-based ARM has made great in-roads into the market for mobile handset processors, and the deal is being seen by pundits as an admission of such by Motorola. In a statement, ARM chairman Robin Saxby said that the deal reflected the depth of Motorola's commitment to the ARM architecture.
