NEWS Although IF customers can check account details with their freebie phones they cannot complete online transactions, transfer money or pay bills, according to reports in the Electronic Telegraph. A total of 150,000 phones were on offer in a tie-up with BT Cellnet. A statement from the company said IF's promise of 24x7 WAP banking will be part of a "phased launch" with customers able to make transactions "early in the new year". The bank's website, www.if.com, went live at the end of November following a delayed launch.
