NEWS Ann Robinson on the BBC's Watchdog program will tonight reveal flaws in the PS2 machine that has attracted at least 60 complaints from the public, many infuriated by the system failing to work on Christmas day. A spokesman for Sony said some of the problems were due to users misunderstanding the system's instructions and using unofficial leads to connect the machine to a TV set. Previously, Sony revealed its promise of backwards-compatibility between the PS2 and the original Playstation's games may not work properly, if at all. Sony has experienced a number of issues regarding its latest assault on the home entertainment market. Manufacturing problems initially slowed down distribution at the console launch, causing a mass scramble to get hold of the device in time for Christmas.

we bought a PS2 approximately 12 months ago and no longer have the receipt. their now appears to be a problem with our PS2 and we wondered if Sony were prepared to do something about fixing or replacing our system considering its not even 2yrs old? im not sure who to contact or if you have a contact address/phone number you could email to me.

I bought a Playstation 2 two years ago, and a month ago, it started to get Disk Read Errors, commanly known as DRE, i lot of people have been getting these, sony have even been taken to court in the states because of the DRE. I rang sony, they told me there are two things that i can do to fix it, hoover the vents on the PS2, or buy a lens cleaner (i did both, and it still does not work) i rang sony again and they say that it could be one of 20 things that has gone wrong, they wont consider fixing it, or replacing it, but did offer a 2nd hand playstation (the consol only) for £65 - you can buy a new one (with a handset + 2 games) for £150.

I recently bought the new playstation2 slim design. And it has not been working as it should. I have been playing only for two months. It just starts to freeze after an hour. image quality is poor some games come up blurry. and one game I had A grand theft auto san andreas game wont play the ps2 says error reading disk. Lots of people are reporting these errors and iam just one of them And I also dont like the fact that the new ps2 does not have a power switch to turn on and off. you have to unplug the power cord. I still have the recipt and I thing of getting my money back from the retail store

I own the ps2 slim design and i only have one problem. the flimsy top! you see when you go to take out a game or shut it down the buttons are in a spot where you put your hand on the top pressing it making the disc get scratched on the metal eye holder. ruined about 6 games already!! wtf!!!
