BT in the pink as Blu evades fine

The shareholders of Italian mobile company Blu have escaped a E2bn (£1.3bn) fine from Italian authorities, proposed for its withdrawal from Italy's UMTS auction.

NEWS A tribunal court disagreed with the government's allegations that Blu shareholders, including BT, Autostrade and Benetton acted irregularly. Blu had taken part in two rounds of bidding before disagreements between shareholders forced the company to end its participation. Enrico Casini, administrative director at Blu, said the company will now focus on its strategy on GPRS. According to reports in the Italian press, the main Blu shareholders are in discussions to sell their participation.
