Mitsubishi reports poor handset sales

Mitsubishi has missed its global target for mobile handset sales by nearly a third, selling a mere 18.5 million against a target of 27 million.

NEWS Sales in Europe, where handsets are sold under the Trium brand, were 44 per cent below targets. Sales in America were 50 per cent below. Nonetheless, the company has set ambitious targets for next year, hoping to sell a global total of 28.5 million phones. The company has been hit by a general slowing down in the European mobile market, where Nokia, Ericsson, Alcatel and Motorola have been forced to cut capacity and jobs.
