Sharp sets up UK mobile phone plant

Japanese electronics giant Sharp is setting up a subsidiary in the UK to develop and design mobile phones.

NEWS The forming of Sharp Telecommunications of Europe, which will be wholly owned by the parent company, follows hard on the heels of last week's announcement that the company is to team up with BT Wireless to develop the camera phone, Cyclops. In a statement, Sharp said the subsidiary will be based in Berkshire and initially employ around 30 staff.
