NEWS Research in Motion, the Canadian company behind the device, has signed a partnership with BT Cellnet to roll out its new product in the UK.
The device is also due for release across other European markets.
Taking advantage of Europe's advanced GPRS technology, the new Blackberry device will have the capability to handle voice calls in addition to email, and is expected to compete with mobile phone manufacturers and PDA makers such as Nokia and Palm.
In the US, where mobile phones are less popular than Europe, Blackberry is popular among corporate circles who use it to send and receive emails on the go.
