NEWS Michael Jackson, founder of WildDay.com, is to set up the world's highest office with an Iridium phone and laptop as he climbs Himalayan K2, the ultimate challenge for mountaineers and the world's second highest peak. Jackson told silicon.com: "About three months ago I was asked if I wanted to go on the expedition - most people plan for two years. "I thought I'd have to cry off, but found that I could use a satellite phone and normal laptop and run my business while away. I deal with people all over the world that I haven't met - so there's no difference where I email from." Jackson is cofounder of Scottish-based WildDay.com, a specialist outdoor equipment site. He said: "It's a dream. It's great to combine my love of outdoor pursuits without having to take a career break. It will show that you can do these things without having to shut up shop. The Guiness Book of Records has confirmed that when I set up in the base camp, it will be the highest office in the world." Jackson and the largely Belgian expedition plan to climb Broad Peak, an 8000m peak and fourteenth highest mountain, followed by K2.
