NEWS Vodafone group's global products and services division has signed a two-year pan-European agreement with KPMG, the global professional services firm, for the provision of mobile communications. Vodafone said in a company statement it will consolidate the mobile communications requirements for KPMG's European anchor practice (EAP) - a group of partner networks in the UK (Vodafone UK), France (SFR), Germany (D2 Vodafone) and Netherlands (Libertel Vodafone). Vodafone plans to offer a seamless cross-border service for clients, through using its virtual home environment service. This it claims will allow travelling KPMG executives to use the same network short codes as they would on their home network. Michael Wareing, chairman at KPMG, said in a statement: "The agreement with Vodafone is part of KPMG's strategy to offer consistent and common access to technology for our clients and staff across Europe, through global suppliers." Each of KPMG's operations participating in the agreement will be billed on a national basis, due to international tax regulations. However, help will be provided through the use of Vodafone's web-based unified management information system (UMIS). KPMG recently integrated its European operations into the EAP, which is made up of 29,571 employees who will be able to use WAP, GPRS and multi-media services.
