The Queen gets a mobile phone

'Sorry, can I call you back, I'm on the throne...'

NEWS The Queen has got her first mobile phone, and in keeping with her heritage she has opted for a German model - the Siemens C35i. The Queen was bought the mobile by her son Andrew who thought it would be useful for staying in touch while out and about on the royal estates. It is thought the Queen also wanted to be able to get in touch with her 'horseracing contacts' whenever the need arises. However, she will not use the phone in public and has banned her staff from using mobile phones in her presence due to a dislike of the ring tones. Andrew has programmed the phone numbers of all the Queen's children into the phone and has taken her through how to use it. According to Buckingham Palace, the Queen is now fully conversant with her new gadget. The phone has been given a special number to prevent Her Majesty getting any wrong number calls, but she is yet to test the full range of functionality and has apparently not chosen a customised ring tone for the handset.
