SMS used for German terror attack warnings

'pls vac8 ur offis in an ordrly mnnr. thnku.'

NEWS Germany is currently testing an SMS terrorist warning system to alert specific areas of the community or the entire population. The German Ministry of the Interior has refused to disclose what software or company they will be using for the first terrorism warning system in Europe, but have said experts are carrying out field tests. Nad Nadesan, MD of Peramon Technology, commented: "This is a government moving with the times. The penetration rate of mobile phones makes SMS ideal for this kind of warning as the alternatives - TV and radio - will not be seen or heard by people at work." All that is known of the technology being used is that it is based on the satellite system launched this week in Germany to grease civil defense warnings in the post-11 September shock. It is not known when the UK will follow the German suit.
