NEWS Compaq will today take the wraps of its latest supercomputer, Terascale. The computer is powered by 3,000 Alpha EV68 processors housed in 750 separate servers connected by high-speed Quadric interconnections. Terascale can perform six trillion calculations per second - the equivalent of 10,000 desktop PCs. The computer has to struggle by with a feeble three terabytes of RAM. US wires report.
