Compaq unveils super supercomputer

NEWS Compaq will today take the wraps of its latest supercomputer, Terascale. The computer is powered by 3,000 Alpha EV68 processors housed in 750 separate servers connected by high-speed Quadric interconnections. Terascale can perform six trillion calculations per second - the equivalent of 10,000 desktop PCs. The computer has to struggle by with a feeble three terabytes of RAM. US wires report.
