NEWS Demand for Ericsson Sony's colour-screen mobile phone is building ahead of Christmas and may help pull the two companies' new handset division into profitability. Waiting lists are growing for the Ericsson T68, which is the first handset with a colour-screen, as manufacturing operations struggle to keep up with demand. The joint-venture is expecting sales for the coming year to top the combined sales of both independent companies prior to the merger. Jointly produced products are due to launch in the third quarter of 2002 although the companies will continue to sell their own individually branded products throughout the year.
