NEWS Evidence that third generation mobile (3G) is unlikely to be 2002 phenomenon in Europe came yesterday when Dutch carrier KPN said it was looking to launch services the year after next. News of KPN's cautious approach - reported by sources within the company - will come as a blow to Vodafone and BT who are planning to share 3G infrastructure costs with the Dutch carrier. BT and Vodafone both have interests in the Dutch market. BT owns Telfort while Libertel is a Vodafone subsidiary.
