NEWS Handspring and Palm have denied they are in merger talks. After almost two days of heavy gains for both stocks on the Nasdaq - due to rumours of a possible get-together - both slipped back late Monday. Handspring, started by the creators of the PalmPilot, is the most prominent Palm OS licensee, and any marriage would have been seen as a defensive move against a tide of manufacturers using Microsoft's PocketPC operating system, and a handful working with the Symbian OS.
