NEWS Taiwanese chip firm Via is celebrating a victory over sector giant Intel after a US court ruled the company had not infringed upon Intel patents relating to graphics chips. A court in California ruled that Via's chipsets supporting AMD microprocessors did not breach an Intel patent. The win only represents round one of an ongoing battle between the two firms. Intel and Via will meet in the courts again, with a number of other alleged patent breaches relating to chipsets supporting the Pentium 4 processor yet to be heard.
