TIM dials up Reuters for content

SMS, WAP and beyond?

NEWS TIM has signed up Reuters to help it supply subscribers with breaking news. The mobile arm of Telecom Italia did not disclose the value of the deal, which will see the distribution of content using SMS and WAP. TIM will offer 'ScripTIM by Reuters', a service based on the Reuters Flash SMS product. Although the arrangement is pre-3G, Reuters will also provide pictures and graphics in addition to text news, written by a dedicated team in Italy. TIM is the market-leader in Italy, where it operates the largest mobile network in Europe, by subscriber numbers. Worldwide it has 51.4 million customers.
