NEWS A team of medical cartographers is working on a $15m project to create the most detailed map of the human brain ever assembled. The completed map will display a 3D atlas of the human brain's anatomy and its functions. The only brain map currently in existence is that of a 60-year old woman, which experts claim is not representative of the entire human race. All brains are different, so speciality maps will be categorised by age, family history, gender and genetic background. The brain scans of 7,000 individuals from across the globe will be used to piece the maps together. Once completed, the 3D atlas will be available online for medical researchers to compare a wide-range of information.
