NEWS The annual online computer chess tournament is launched today. The prestigious competition features over 50 chess programs made by professional programmers and amateurs from all over the world. The tournament takes place over the next two weekends and is hosted by the Internet Chess Club (ICC) All of the computers will be operated by their authors. Last years' tournament featured live commentary from human chess gurus. The rules state: "Only original programs are allowed and absolutely no clones. Most programs are pretty well known by the Computer Chess community and therefore if brand new, unknown programs appear, the ICC will consult other people to decide its entry in the tournament."
