NEWS Handspring is taking orders for its little Treo 180 Communicator device which combines a mobile phone with a PDA. The wallet-sized device is currently the smallest combination device on the market running on a Palm operating system. The Treo is selling for $399 if it is taken with a GSM service plan from either Cingular Wireless or VoiceStream, or $549 without. Europe can expect the Treo to debut later this month on mm02 networks throughout the UK, Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands. Orders taken on the company's website will be shipped within the US on 25 February. The device is expected to be available to US retailers in March.
