Symbian boss tenders shock resignation

Mobile venture rocked as Myers moves on...

NEWS Symbian chief executive Colly Myers has shocked the consortium by announcing his resignation. No reason was given for his departure from Symbian, which makes operating systems for handhelds and other mobile devices. David Potter, currently chairman of Psion, which holds a 28.1 per cent stake in Symbian, will take over as executive chairman while the company looks for a permanent replacement. The move comes after a series of positive news announcements from the Symbian mobile consortium, including a £21m new funding round, a licensing agreement with Fujitsu and the launch of a new Symbian-based product, the 7650 from Nokia.
