T-Mobile still in the red

But profitability's on the horizon...

NEWS Deutsche Telekom's mobile arm, T-Mobile, has turned in a net loss for 2001 but has promised to maintain its 40 per cent operating margins. The subsidiary did not disclose what these losses were but its planned listing, scheduled for either this year or next, is critical to Deutsche Telekom's debt recovery Intentions. The unit attributed E1bn (£600m)to re-branding activities - One2One made up the largest share of this figure. The mobile unit is expected to be one of the group's growth drivers into the future.
In 2001, it accounted for about a third of its parent's revenues - or E10bn ((£6bn). Before tax and interest (EBITDA), the company brought in revenues of 3.1 billion euros - double the previous year.
