Telewest trims broadband prices

Still not the cheapest...

NEWS Telewest has trimmed its broadband prices in a bid to keep pace with BTopenworld's DSL offering. For customers using Telewest's broadband without cable TV or telephone, the price has been trimmed from £33 to £29.99. The cost for TV and telephone subscribers remains constant at £25. The move helps Telewest keep pace with the falling costs of ADSL broadband after BT chief executive Ben Verwaayen announced a cut in the price of wholesale ADSL. A Telewest spokeswoman said: "We didn't want BT to go out there and say that they are cheaper than us." However, several other resellers of BT's DSL product such as Pipex are cheaper still - Pipex charges just £23.44. "We're about the third or fourth cheapest on the market," the spokeswoman said.
