But is mmO2 taking a chance on the Highbury jinx? When did you last see a Dreamcast in the shops?

NEWS mm02 has signed a £20m sponsorship deal with Arsenal Football Club which will see its name printed on Arsenal shirts for the next four years. mm02, BT's recently spun-off mobile arm, replaces the existing shirt sponsor Sega Dreamcast. The deal continues a trend of technology firms sponsoring football clubs and provides mm02 with a high-profile platform upon which to develop consumer awareness of its brand. Shortly after signing its sponsorship deal with Arsenal, Sega announced it was pulling the plug on its Dreamcast console division. mm02 will clearly be hoping this isn't an omen. Technology firms currently sponsoring football clubs include:
BT Cellnet (Middlesbrough)
Eidos (Manchester City)
NTL (Aston Villa, Newcastle, Celtic, Rangers)
One2One (Everton)
Redbus (Charlton Athletic)
Phones 4U (Birmingham City)
Time (Blackburn Rovers)
Vodafone (Manchester United)
