NEWS Palm is claiming one of its products has become the first ever handheld computer in space. The Palm m125 is the property of South African cosmic tourist Mark Shuttleworth, who can also boast the distinction of being the first African in space and the first internet millionaire in orbit. Shuttleworth follows millionaire space tourism pioneer Dennis Tito, taking off from the Baikonur launch pad in Kazakhstan aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket at lunchtime on Thursday. Shuttleworth is due to complete numerous scientific experiments while in orbit, and his time has been carefully scheduled to enable him to complete them all. A South African Palm development company has developed a special scheduling application to enable Shuttleworth to fulfil his mission.
