Prez the Lord: SMS for Catholics

NEWS Catholics in the Philippines are receiving spiritual guidance over mobile phones thanks to an SMS bible-message initiative from the Roman Catholic Church. Two of the country's mobile phone service providers, Globe and Smart, are providing the bible-quote service - named Catextism - to subscribers. Other "inspirational" services such as prayer guides and reflection-sharing are available to let users know that whatever the situation they find themselves in, religion is near. The service is being implemented in conjunction with the Jesuit Communication Centre in Dublin, Ireland. Subscribers have been instructed to register for the service by texting "Amen" to the access number.
