NEWS Intel is attempting to breathe life into the demand for PC chips by slashing the price of its Pentium 4 processors. While the 2.26GHz and 2.22GHz chips for desktop computers will be 43 per cent cheaper, Notebook prices will be cut even further. To stimulate demand particularly in the corporate sector, the company has shaved the cost of the 1.6GHz mobile Pentium 4 by 51 per cent to $198. The price cuts are an annual occurrence this time of year. It is likely AMD, the company's biggest competitor will follow suit.
