NEWS Australian boffins have made further strides on teleportation techniques. The scientists managed to teleport a laser beam a few meters across a laboratory at the University of Canberra. An earlier successful attempt of teleportation took place in 1998 in California, but the Australian experiment is said to be a significant breakthrough in teleporting technology. The Australian experiment makes use of quantum entanglement, which can physically separate particles. The researchers say teleportation could be useful today in data communications, but are hoping techniques for teleporting atoms are not to far off.
