Big Brother text voting smashes all records

Day 41 and the UK's mobile masses have nothing better to do with their money...

NEWS Friday night's eviction on Channel 4's Big Brother broke all previous records for the show with more people voting online or via SMS text message than ever before. In total almost 3.5 million votes were cast, with the majority choosing to boot out bi-sexual contestant Adele. Of the 3,427,202 votes cast 48 per cent (1,653,250) were made by phone, 28 per cent (955,861) were made by text and 24 per cent (811,768) were registered online. Research by Informa Telecoms showed that total revenues from Big Brother SMS voting so far topped £840,000 yesterday. By Brianne Llewellyn
