Intersil offers 'Wi-Fi on the go'

Tiny, wee chips...

NEWS US wireless semiconductor company Intersil is to incorporate its chipset design into SyChip's WLAN (wireless local area network) card for 'Wi-Fi on the go'. Intersil's PRISM 3 chipset will be added to SyChip's secure digital (SD) card, which is a mere 50mm long and 24mm wide, for use in handhelds. The companies claim the PRISM 3 chip will be transformed into the world's smallest WLAN form factor in the world for the next generation of mobile internet devices. The cards, which are targeted at both consumers and business telecommuters, will support Windows and Palm. Samples of the card will be ready by the end of the year.
