Techy thrills under dark satanic mills...

NEWS Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Lukes in Bradford have issued staff with handheld Pocket PCs to enhance the management of stock. The new system, called Wander, was launched yesterday by Health Minister Lord Hunt after being run as a pilot since February this year. Staff members are now able to instantly check and make orders from a set catalogue of products, see when deliveries are expected and monitor stock levels at any time of day, anywhere in Bradford's hospitals. KPMG Consulting, who is running the project with help from Microsoft and Hewlett Packard, said it predicts resultant savings to reach around £200m annually across the entire NHS. Wander is expected to help hospitals across the UK develop strong relationships with suppliers to give the NHS better buying power.
