NEWS UK consumer magazine Which? has given its backing to Apple's iPod MP3 player ahead of the festive period. Apple CEO Steve Jobs reckons the iPod will be a favourite underneath Christmas trees worldwide, and Which? has done that ambition no harm at all by making the iPod its "best buy" in the MP3 market. Apple has recently increased the number of distribution channels for the iPod, putting them in shops across the US, to make sure consumers have plenty of chances to buy one while they are doing their Christmas shopping (see http://www.silicon.com/a56108 for more). Reporting Apple's results earlier this month, Jobs said: "Looking forward, we do not expect our industry to pick up anytime soon, though we're hoping to help put a lot of iPods, iMacs and iBooks under trees this holiday season."
