Cambridge wireless player big in Malaysia

Company from over here doing well over there

NEWS Malaysian service provider AtlasONE is rolling out high-speed fixed wireless internet access using $3m of equipment from Cambridge Broadband Limited. The contract calls for the deployment of VectaStar 3500 access equipment, which will enable high-speed services for individuals and SMEs in multi-tenant blocks, without having to rely on line of sight. AtlasONE will target the Klang Valley district of Greater Kuala Lumpur, home to 60 per cent of the Malaysian economy. The equipment will use 3.5GHz spectrum, a band that is also licensed in Australia and New Zealand, where Cambridge Broadband has a presence. The company said there is a "huge, largely untapped, opportunity for fixed wireless access in south east Asia", and the AtlasONE contract is its first major win the region.
